Campus-wide English Placement Exams
This is a project where Blackboard LMS was used as the campus-wide platform to perform English placement exams. Exam results determine whether a student would be placed directly in the 1st course of college-level writing or need to be placed into an English preparation course.
The problem
Exams were administered manually as paper and pen exams. The exam required applicant students to write an essay later evaluated by 3 English writing professors. The final grade is consolidated by an exam coordinator who is an English professor.
The exam is usually administered by the end of the Spring semester and graders won’t be leaving for the summer before handing over final exam results. This caused interruptions to their summer plans and left some of them unsatisfied and looking for a better solution.
The solution
